EDUCATION IS KEY
Education in this country is so different than where I come from. Why, I knew more about math when I was in middle school than my son does now, and he's a college graduate! That’s because we had good fundamentals there, the school system there didn't just cater to the lowest common denominator. Don't even get me started on college. In my country, not only did the government pay for college, but you also got a stipend! Could you imagine something like that? My son has had to take out so many loans; he'll be lucky if he doesn't have to file for bankruptcy some day. I exaggerate, of course. I'm sure he'll be a very rich man someday. He's a really smart kid, with a good head on his shoulders. He just graduated recently, and I'm sure his career is going to take off any day now. But still, it's sad that in a country with so much prosperity there are still people who cannot afford to get a college education. Of course there were lots of problems where we came here, and we came to this place for a reason. This is truly a land of opportunity if you are willing to work for it. It just saddens me that so many kids aren't given the chance to achieve what they deserve
